Katherine E. Dennis

January 7, 1934 — May 9, 2020

Mrs. Katherine E. Dennis, 86, of Hogansville, passed away Saturday, May 9, 2020, at Hospice LaGrange. Mrs. Dennis was born January 7, 1934, in Montgomery, AL, daughter of the late Ivan and Lena Ledbetter Kirby. A member of Franklin First Baptist Church, she was a licensed real estate broker but had an interest in art most of her life. After raising her children and working outside the home for a number of years, she started painting seriously and selling her work, in the medium of watercolor and oil. Taking lessons and workshops led to exhibiting. She won several awards and her work is in many private homes and businesses and has been donated to raise money for charities. She is a member and former board member of The LaGrange Artist Guild, member of the LaGrange Art Museum, and a member of the Newnan-Coweta Art Association. Katherine was a true lady, was an avid reader, and had a lifelong quest for knowledge. Survivors include her husband, Richard F. Dennis; and daughter, Janet Dennis Jackson; sons, Rick Dennis of Asheville, NC, Sandy K. Dennis and his wife Teresa, of Hogansville; grandchildren, Adam Monteith, Gavin Dennis, Madison Dennis; and great-grandchildren, Graysen Monteith, Landyn Monteith, and Pheona Monteith. A family funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, May 13, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville, with Pastor Jason Ritter officiating. Interment will be in Restlawn Memory Gardens in LaGrange. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
