Karen Medley Parham

Mrs. Karen Parham, 74, of Hogansville, passed away Saturday, May 6, 2017, at her home. Mrs. Parham was born May 23, 1942, in Hogansville, daughter of the late James Medley and Margaret Teal Medley Smoot. She had been a member of the Hogansville Pilot Club and the Order of the Eastern Star, and was a member of St. James United Methodist Church, where she was active in the Carrie Teal Circle and the women's fellowship group. She was a former City Clerk of Hogansville and was employed as a teacher's aide at the Burwell Program for the Troup County School System prior to her retirement. Survivors include her daughter and son in-law, Amy and Jeff Sheppard of Hogansville; sister, Sherry Edge of Morrow; brother and sister in-law, Lanny and Sondra Medley of Roswell, NM; two grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Parham, and her step-father, Arthur Smoot. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 10, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Willow Heim will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Tuesday night. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
