June Louise Freiheit Smith Rawlinson was born in Buffalo, New York on February 18, 1926 and died on June 17, 2023 in LaGrange, Georgia.
Mrs. Rawlinson was the daughter of the late Martha (Maefs) and Howard Freiheit. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Culver Rawlinson who died in 2002, by her first husband Oliver Willis Smith who died in 1990, and also by her sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Ray Willis.
Survivors include her daughter, Kimberly L. Smith of Cleveland Heights, OH; two granddaughters, Rebecca Poore (Jason), of Lanett, AL and Katherine Brower of Cleveland Heights, OH; three great-grandchildren, Sophia, Poore, Henry Poore, and Ana Brower.
Mrs. Rawlinson graduated from secretarial school and worked most of her life as a secretary beginning with her mother's business. After moving to Florida with her first husband, Oliver Willis Smith (deceased), she worked for the Florida United Methodist Conference, as Administrative Assistant to the Editor of the Conference newspaper.
Mrs. Rawlinson was a member of Trinity-on-the-Hill United Methodist Church where she was a member of United Methodist Women and led small Bible study and craft groups in her church. She was a member of the Newcomers Group in LaGrange. Her main legacy is that she looked for goodness in everyone, and did her best to bring kindness to world.
A Service of Celebration is planned for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 15, 2023 at Trinity-on-the Hill United Methodist Church, 101 N. Davis Road, LaGrange, with the Reverend Kory Trinrud and the Reverend Carmen Arnett officiating. She will be interred in the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida at a later date.
