Joyce A. Parker

Mrs. Joyce A. Parker, 87, of Hogansville, passed away Thursday, January 27, 2022, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital. Mrs. Parker was born October 22, 1934, in Douglasville, daughter of the late Mac Claude Abercrombie, Sr. and Elizabeth Hurst Abercrombie. A resident of Hogansville most of her life, she worked as a licensed practical nurse prior to her marriage and then became a homemaker in order to care for her family. She enjoyed horseback riding and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Hogansville. Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Cato; grandson, William Cato and his wife Alexandria; and a great-grandson, Knox Hilton Cato, all of Hogansville; sister, Catherine Abercrombie Marvin of Douglasville; and nieces and nephews, Beth Marvin, Cate Marvin, Mac Abercrombie III, Victor Abercrombie, and Claudia Abercrombie-Miller. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hilton R. Parker; son, Hilton Reese Parker, Jr.; son in-law, Chuck Cato; and brother, Mac Claude Abercrombie, Jr. The family will host a memorial service at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, February 20, at the First United Methodist Church of Hogansville.
