MR. JOSEPH W. MURPHY Mr. Joseph W. (Joe) Murphy, 82, of Greenville, the Stovall Community, died Sunday, July 25, 2010, at Hospice LaGrange. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 27, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Aaron McCollough will officiate and interment will be in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in the Rocky Mount Community of Meriwether County. Mr. Murphy was born August 22, 1927, in Rocky Mount, son of the late Tom and Mamie Strickland Murphy. An Army veteran of the Korean War, he lived in Meriwether County most of his life, was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, and retired as a supervisor from Playtex International. Survivors include his daughters and sons in-law, Carolyn Rice of Stovall, Shelia and Mike Sumrell of Lawrenceville, Elaine and James Golden of Opelika, AL, Jo Ellen and Terry Prestridge of Stovall, and Sara Ann Murphy of Pine Mountain Valley; brother, Dan Murphy of LaGrange; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Corley Murphy. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements. Visitation: from 6 until 9 Monday night, July 26th, at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home Services: 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 27th, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home Interment: Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in the Rocky Mount Community of Meriwether County
