MR. JOSEPH L. HAMBY
Mr. Joseph L. Hamby, 91, of Hogansville, died Monday, July 1, 2013, at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, of injuries received in an automobile accident.
The funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 6, at Grace Covenant Worship Center in Hogansville. The Reverend Joseph L. Hamby, Jr. will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Friday night.
Mr. Hamby was born December 5, 1921, in Tallassee, Alabama, son of the late Edward and Elizabeth Moore Hamby. A veteran of service in the U. S. Navy during World War II, he lived in Riverdale from 1956 until making his home in Hogansville in 1984, and retired from Delta Airlines after 28 years of service as a sheet metal mechanic. He attended Welcome All Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Betty Jo Hamby of Hogansville; sons, Joseph L. Hamby, Jr. and his wife, Betty of Houston, TX, Ken Hamby and his wife, Beverlie of Belen, NM, Cary Hamby and his wife, Lana of Stockbridge; eleven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.
