MR. JOHNNY R. ROWE Mr. Johnny Ralph Rowe, 81, of the Rocky Mount Community of Meriwether County, died Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at his home. Mr. Rowe was born April 5, 1932, in Rocky Mount, son of the late Ralph David Rowe and Emma Hardaway Rowe. A veteran of service in the U. S. Air Force, he lived in Meriwether County most of his life and served as a soil conservationist for 35 years, retiring from the ASCS and serving as supervisor of the Roosevelt Soil and Water Conservation District. He was a member and deacon of Bethel Baptist Church and was a member of Greenville Masonic Lodge #321. Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Rowe of Rocky Mount; son and daughter in-law, John and Deborah Rowe of Fayetteville; daughter and son in-law, Janet and Larry Legendre, Jr. of Sugarland, TX; daughter in-law, Melanie Rowe of Moreland; sister, Jo Anne Keith of Hogansville; grandchildren, Brittney Rowe, Trent Legendre and his wife Amanda, Jessica Legendre, and David W. R. Rowe; and step-grandchildren, Courtney Storey, Micala Brown, and Micah Brown. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Rebecca Jean Rowe; son, David Wayne Rowe; and step-grandson, Brandon Storey. A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 18, at Bethel Baptist Church in Rocky Mount. The Reverend Bobby Boswell will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at home until January 17; and, on January 18, the family will receive friends in the church prior to the service and in the church fellowship hall following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Baptist Church Steeple Fund or to West Georgia Hospice. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements. Visitation: the family will receive friends at their home until January 17th, at the church prior to the service, and in the church fellowship hall following the service Services: 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 18th, at Bethel Baptist Church in the Rocky Mount Community of Meriwether County Interment: Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery
