JOHNNY H. BROWN, SR. Johnny Hill Brown, 72, of Hogansville, went to Heaven at 2:14 a.m., Friday, November 19, 2010, at Hospice LaGrange. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 21, at Faith Baptist Church in LaGrnange. The Reverend Brad Thompson, the Reverend Tony Cartledge, and Dr. Charles Chapman will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle HIll Cemetery in Hogansville. Johnny was born Deceember 16, 1937, in Madras, son of the late Frank H. and Orene Byrd Brown. He retired from BellSouth/AT&T after 30 years service and in 1987, he opened his restaurant and catering service, Johnny Brown's Country Fixin's. After almost 20 years of cooking stew and que and grilling chicken and steaks, he retired due to illness. He missed all his customers, especially the children who would go to the pit to sit on his lap and talk. Always active in civic and youth activities, Johnny was instrumental in starting Jaycee's in Hogansville during the 1970's, and along with his wife, Carol, he sponsored cheerleaders and majorettes, taking them to many football and basketball games. He was president of the Hogansville High School Band Booster Club for many years and cooked a lot of hamburgers and chickens for fund-raisers for the teams, majorettes and cheerleaders. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Carol Coker Brown of Hogansville; daughters and sons in-law, Tammy and Larry Hooks of Hogansville and Patricia and Rick Smith of Newnan; son, Johnny Brown, Jr. and his wife, Angie Neal Brown of Hogansville; four grandchildren, Keith and Hailey Brown, Amy and Torey Pollard, Natalie Brown, and Dale and Holly Prather; two great-granddaughters, Anabelle and Amelia Pollard; two great-grandsons expected soon, Eli Brown and Nate Prather; his sister, Sara Ann Burden of Duluth; and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother, Earl F. Brown, and his sister, Margaret (Peggy) Brown Wheelus. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Georgia or Hospice LaGrange. Condolences may be expressed at www.mckibbenfuneralhome.com Claude A.
