John William Smith

Mr. John William Smith, 93, of Hogansville, passed away Friday, July 17, 2020, at Wellstar Atlanta Medical Center. Mr. Smith was born October 23, 1926, in Fayette County, son of the late George Glenn Smith and Minnie Mae Harper Smith. An Army Air Corps veteran of service in the Pacific Theatre during World War Two, he lived in the Atlanta area before making his home in Meriwether County 30 years ago. retired from Johnson Motor Lines. and was an avid farmer during his retirement years. Survivors include his children, Jackie Kimbell of Hogansville, Randy Smith of Moreland, Lisa Smith, and Lane Smith, both of Hogansville; sister Donie Gordon of Fairburn; brother, Robert (Bob) Smith of Fayetteville; eleven grandchildren; and thirty great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Whitlock Smith. In keeping with Mr. Smith's wishes, a memorial service is not being planned. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.
