JOHN THOMAS ROSSER, III
Mr. John Thomas Rosser III, 70, of Davie, Florida and fondly known by his friends as Sailboat John, died Wednesday, March 2, 2011.
Mr. Rosser was born December 4, 1940, in Meriwether County, and lived most of his adult life in South Florida, where he owned a cab company and truly enjoyed his life living on his sailboat, "The Southwind." Prior to making his home in Florida, he worked a number of years in the Atlanta area for Sears Roebuck and Co.
Survivors include his wife, Maria Rosser of Davie, FL; daughters and sons in-law, Tammy Dennison of Griffin, Lisa and Gerry McGurl of Zebulon, Leah and Brantley Crawford of Barnesville; his mother, Emily Rowe Rosser of Moreland; brothers and sisters in-law, Tony and Pat Rosser of Moreland, Kenneth and Gail Rosser of Newnan, Michael and Susan Rosser of Carrollton; a grandson, Shon Dennison; and granddaughters, Taylor McGurl, Mara McGurl, and Mia McGurl. He was preceded in death by his father, John Thomas Rosser, Jr.
The family will host a memorial service at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 16, at Moreland United Methodist Church, with the Reverend Floyd Tenney officiating. His cremated remains will be scattered at sea.
