John Daniel "Dan" Purgason

Mr. John Daniel "Dan" Purgason, 78, of Hogansville, passed away Saturday, November 20, 2021, at his home. Mr. Purgason was born June 5, 1943, in Hogansville, son of the late John Whitley Purgason and the late Agatha Williams Purgason Jones. He earned a Bachelors degree from the University of Georgia in 1966 and then served four years in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was employed at Milliken and Company for fifteen years, served as controller for National Spinning in Washington, NC for ten years, and retired from Interface in LaGrange as a cost accountant. A lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church of Hogansville, he was a avid golfer, had been a member of UGA alumni groups, and was an ardent Bulldog supporter. Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Purgason of Hogansville; brother and sister in-law, Mike and Linda Purgason of Hogansville; daughter and son in-law, Missie and Josh Cummings and their children, Dani and Zane of Hogansville; son, John Purgason and his children, Ross, Whitley, Rex, and Gunnar of Gillsville.
