John Allen (Johnny) Massengale

MR. JOHNNY MASSENGALE Mr. John Allen (Johnny) Massengale, Sr., 73, of Barnwell, South Carolina and formerly of Grantville, died Friday, April 11, 2008, at Laurel Bay Nursing Home in Williston, SC. A memorial service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 16, at the graveside in the Grantville Cemetery, with Dr. Melvin Payne officiating. Born March 19, 1935, in Meriwether county, Mr. Massengale was the son of the late Grady Allen Massengale and the late Azalee Massey Massengale Thompson. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and lived in Coweta county most of his life. He was a member of the Baptist church and was retired from the textile industry. Survivors include a daughter, Sammye Massengale Schmidt; sons, Robbie Massengale and John Massengale, Jr., all of Barnwell, SC; two brothers, Hiram Massengale of Alabama and Jimmy Massengale of Grantville; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements. Services: 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 16
