MR. JOHN W. MADDOX
Mr. John W. Maddox, 89, of Gay, died Tuesday, November 2, 2010, at Avalon Health and Rehabilitation Center in Newnan.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 4, at the graveside in Glen Haven Memorial Park in Macon, with military honors.
Mr. Maddox was born May 23, 1921, in Butts County, son of the late Jefferson and Mamie Heath Maddox. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps and received a Purple Heart for his service in the Army during World War Two, having gone ashore at Normandy on D-Day. He lived in Macon most of his life, had lived at Gay since 1987, and was a retired building contractor.
Survivors include his daughters and sons in-law, Sandra and David Hubbard of Gay, Faye and Calvin White of Newnan, and Barbara and Denzil Wallace of Griffin; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.
