MR. JOHN W. HURST
Mr. John Wortham Hurst, 44, of Greenville and formerly of Moreland, passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2015, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
John was born January 2, 1971, in Newnan and lived in Moreland for many years. A 1989 graduate of Newnan High School, he was Baptist by faith and was employed by ABC Utility Services. John enjoyed music, was a talented drummer, played harmonica and trumpet, and loved to perform.
Survivors include his sons John Wortham "Jack" Hurst II and Whit Gordon Hurst of Decatur; his mother, Patricia Cato Hurst of Greenville; nephew, William Ronald Ballou of Newnan; aunts and uncles, James and Dot Cato and Mrs. Robert (Susan) Cato, all of Greenville, Russell Stitcher of Moreland, Brenda and David Templeton of Ellenwood; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Kendal Wortham Hurst; and his brother, James Merrill "Jay" Hurst.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 30, at the graveside in the Luthersville Cemetery, with the Reverend Tim Hosmer officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Saturday night.
