MR. JOHN W. HOLMES, JR. Mr. John W. Holmes, Jr., 85, of LaGrange, died Friday, April 23, 2010, at his home. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 25, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend James Moon will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville. Son of the late John and Maggie Neely Holmes, Mr. Holmes was born August 18, 1924, in Troup County and spent his childhood in Harris County. He was a Navy veteran of World War Two, serving in the Normandy invasion, and had made his home in Troup County since 1952. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and retired as a millwright from Richards and Associates in Carrollton. Survivors include his daughters and sons in-law, Cathy and Howard Worley of Whitesburg and Linda and Phillip Davis of Athens, AL; grandchildren, Wendy Fohrman, Ashley Weeks, Jon Marc Martinez, Wade Worley, and Nicole Bruce; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jennelle Gaddy Holmes. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements. Visitation: from 6 until 8 Saturday night, April 24th, at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home Services: 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 25th, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home Interment: Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.
