John Handley Camp

MR. JOHN H. CAMP Mr. John Handley Camp, 95, of Albany and formerly of Decatur, died Tuesday, July 20. 2010, at Phoebe Worth Hospital in Sylvester. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 24, at New Hope Church in Meriwether County. The Reverend Kenneth Whitlock will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery. Born March 4, 1915, in Malone, Alabama, Mr. Camp was the son of the late Martin and Rushie Traylor Camp. He was an Army veteran of World War II, was a member of New Hope Church, and retired from Otis Elevator Company as head bookkeeper. A resident Decatur most of his life, he had made his home in Albany for the past year. Survivors include his daughter, Debbie Haynie of Albany; grandchildren, Melissa Goodman and her husband, Tim, of Albany and Matthew Haynie of Griffin; and a sister, Cleta Dorman of Manchester. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margie York Camp; his son, John David Camp; and his son in-law, Milton Haynie. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements. Visitation: from 6 until 8 Friday night, July 23rd, at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home Services: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 24th, at New Hope Church in Meriwether County Interment: New Hope Cemetery
