Mr. John Cleveland Barber, Sr., 72, of Gay, passed away, Monday, November 23, 2015, at his home.
Born November 26, 1942, in Meriwether County, Mr. Barber was the son of the late John Clovis Barber and Josie Mae Calhoun Barber. He was a lifelong resident of Meriwether County, was a self-employed mechanic, and was Baptist by faith.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce L. Barber of Gay; sons, John Cleveland Barber, Jr. and his wife, Melissa of Newnan, James Frenchman Barber, Sr. of Luthersville, and Jeff Eugene Barber and his wife, Tina of Carrollton; sisters, Frances Calhoun of Grantville and Gladys Hannah and her husband, Thomas of Manchester; brother, Billy Barber and his wife, Debra of Rome; eleven grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; and sisters in-law, Florence Smith and her husband, Bill of FL., Jeanette Hammett and her husband, Kenneth of Grantville.
The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 27, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend James Calhoun, the Reverend Harry Gann, and the Reverend William Spray will officiate and interment will be in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Meriwether County.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Thursday night.
