John Pinkney Allen

Mr. John P. Allen, 81, of Hogansville, passed away Friday, October 11, 2019, at his home. Mr. Allen was born May 15, 1938, in Hogansville, son of the late Reed and Opal Smith Allen. A veteran of service in the U. S. Army, he was a lifelong resident of Hogansville, retired from the Ford Motor Company Assembly Plant in Hapeville, and enjoyed picking peas and shucking corn. Survivors include his sons, David Allen and Stephen Allen; brother and sister in-law, Danny and Sara Allen, all of Hogansville; grandchildren, Hannah Johnson, Chris Rice, and Samantha Allen; and a great-grandson, John Andrew Johnson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lynda Hester Allen; sister, Barbara Wallace; and brother, Reed Allen. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 15, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Marvin Purgason will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Monday night. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
