MR. JOE C. JOHNS Mr. Joe Calvin Johns, 78, of Gay, died Monday, September 7, 2009, at Arrowhead Healthcare Center in Jonesboro. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, September 10, at the graveside in New Hope Cemetery at Gay, with the Reverend Kenneth Whitlock officiating. Mr. Johns was born April 25, 1931, in Jackson County, Oklahoma, son of the late Asa Leroy Johns and the late Lexie Lillian Dishman Johns. He had lived in Meriwether County since 1959, was a member of New Hope Church, and retired as a plumbing foreman from Georgia Tech. Survivors include his son, Tommy Johns of Gay; grandchildren, Kevin Johns, Calvin Johns, Holly Johns, and Christianne Johns. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bettye Malcom Johns; his sons, Edward Lee Johns and Joe Patrick Johns; and his daughter, Carol Anne Johns. Claude A.
