Joe T. Brooks, Jr.

MR. JOE T. BROOKS, JR. Mr. Joe T. Brooks, Jr., 70, of LaGrange, died Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 27, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Eddie Hunter will officiate and interment will be in Hillview East Cemetery in LaGrange. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Saturday. Mr. Brooks was born September 14, 1942, in LaGrange and was a 1968 graduate of Clemson University. During his career, he served as a plant manager for General Tire in Barnesville; Firestone in Gastonia, NC, and Wellington Leisure Products in Greensboro. He retired to make his home in LaGrange in 1999 and was Baptist by faith. Survivors include his wife, Paulette Crumbley Brooks of LaGrange; son, Joe T. Brooks III and his wife, Dana of Jackson; daughters, Anita Petty and her husband, Darrell of Cherryville, NC, Crystal Yearwood and her husband, Dwayne of LaGrange; his father, Joe T. Brooks of LaGrange; sister and brother in-law, Ruth and Danny Butler of LaGrange; brother and sister in-law, Danny and Judy Brooks of Eclectic, AL; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Angela Brooks McCullough, and his mother, Doris Fuller Brooks. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
