Mr. Joe Bray, 85, of Newnan, passed away Monday, January 2, 2017, at his home. Mr. Bray was born January 19, 1931, in Hogansville, son of the late Russell Bray and Laura Dupree Bray Ramsey. An Army veteran of the Korean War, he lived in Coweta County for many years, and was a member of Sargent Baptist Church. He retired from William L. Bonnell Company after 36½ years of service. Survivors include his daughter, Linda Bray of Franklin; sisters, Julia Davis and Joyce Riley of Hogansville, Nancy Lanier and Marie Landers of Acworth; Jack Ramsey of Hogansville, Rodney Ramsey of Marietta; and a number of nieces and nephews, including Kim Padro and her husband, Angel, who had served as his caregivers, and their daughter, Juliana, who Mr. Bray loved as a granddaughter. In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Jarmon Bray; step-father, O.J. Ramsey; brothers, Hiram Bray and Felix (Buddy) Bray; and sister, Elsie Burch. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 5, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Brian Self and the Reverend Jody Mitchell will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sargent Baptist Church. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
