Mr. Jimmy E. Driver, 74, of LaGrange, passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2018, at his home.
Mr. Driver was born June 21, 1944 in Randolph County, Alabama, son of the late Garfield and Ora Butler Driver. An Army veteran of the Vietnam War, he was a retired building contractor and was known for his excellent craftsmanship. He was a member and deacon of Grace Baptist Church and enjoyed visiting with members of the 86th Engineer Land-clearing Platoon (Vietnam, 1967-68). Mr. Driver was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Driver of LaGrange; daughters, Vicki and James Boggs of LaGrange, Patti and Jonathan McClellan of Franklin, Tiffany and Terry Posey of Pine Mountain, Jennifer and Riley Bowles of LaGrange; grandchildren, Amanda (Chris) Stitcher, Hannah (John Mark) Smith, Cody (Ansley) Vann, Rette Knight, J. D. Blakley, Riley Bowles, Jr., Aden McClellan, Savannah Boggs, Nick Posey, Christopher Bowles, Mikey Posey, Zander Posey, Jayden Posey, Hanna Grace Posey and Zoe Posey; great-grandchildren, Chelci Stitcher, Isaak Stitcher, Trinity Brookshire, Pierce Smith, Trenton Vann, Jaxson Smith; brother, Larry Driver of Mobile, AL; aunt, Eula Childress; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by granddaughters, Lindsey Bowles and Ada Posey; great-granddaughter, Lilly Brookshire; and brothers, J. R. (Buck) Driver, Bobby Driver, Roger Driver, Harlis Driver, and Billy Driver.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 2, at Grace Baptist Church in LaGrange. The Reverend Donnie Benefield, the Reverend Mark Peak and the Reverend Jonathan McClellan will officiate and interment will be at Gray Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, with military honors.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 until 9 Saturday night and at the church from 1 until 2 Sunday afternoon.
