Mr. Jimmy Barber, 80, of Hogansville, passed away Saturday, February 27, 2021, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital.
Mr. Barber was born January 25, 1941, in Coweta County, son of the late J.O. Barber and the late Buvenia Stitcher Barber Fogarty. He was a foreman and worked for many years at J.O. Barber Lumber Company in Luthersville. Jimmy was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed turkey and deer hunting, as well as bass fishing. He participated in a number of fishing tournaments, was very capable at building guns, and loved to take his great-grandchildren fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Janet Barber of Hogansville; daughter, Karen and Roberto Blanco of Newnan; son, Kenneth Barber of Newnan; step-children, Jeff and Rhonda Fowler of Corinth, Michelle and Jeff Williams of Whitesburg; sister, Bertha Hughes and her friend Joe Eady of Luthersville; grandchildren, Shiann Barber, Nancy Barber, Mark Bowden and Bonnie Barclay; great-grandchildren, Brenden, Savannah, Jack and Abel; step-grandchildren, Shelby Morgan, Dylan Fowler, Mallory Norwood, Will Bishop; and step-great-grandchildren, Sophia, Bentley, Bryce, Brycin, Addycin, Whitley, Wyatt, Dock, Kayleigh, Kolton, Amelia.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 2, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville, with the Reverend Randall Hodge officiating. Interment will be later in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 until 11 Tuesday morning.
