MR. JIMMIE RODGER BARBER Mr. Jimmie Rodger Barber, 76, of the Rocky Mount Community of Meriwether County, died Thursday, June 28, 2012, at Brightmoor Hospice in Griffin. A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 1, at Bethel Baptist Church in Rocky Mount. The Reverend Jeffery Sarine will officiate, followed by full military honors. Mr. Barber was born January 8, 1936, in Meriwether County, son of the late James Durward Barber and Frances Pearson Barber. A veteran of service during the Korean and Vietnam Wars, he retired as a Chief Petty Officer from the U. S. Navy following 22 years of service. He also retired as a maintenance supervisor from the Meriwether County Board of Education, was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and the Greenville Masonic Lodge. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Barber of Rocky Mount; daughter, Patricia Murphy of Concord; sons and daughters in-law, Dr. James and Shelly Barber of Covington, Lemuel and Letha Barber of Milton, FL, Eugene and Rhenee Barber of Griffin; step-children, Molly Weems and her husband, Wayne, of Columbus, Clay Norris of Carrollton, and Mitchell Norris of Columbus; sister, Sara Cochran of Rocky Mount; brother, Cecil Pearson of Kennesaw; grandchildren, Laura Murphy, Megan Barber, Adam Barber, Jamie Wilson, Jessica Meinginger, Brittiny Barber, Jared Barber and Caleb Barber; great-grandchildren, Jocelyn Meininger, Judah Meininger; and step-grandchildren, Makenna Weems and William Norris. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements. Services: 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 1st, at Bethel Baptist Church in the Rocky Mount community of Meriwether County
