MRS. JESSIE PEARL ALLEN Mrs. Jessie Pearl Smith Allen, 95, of LaGrange, died Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at Hospice LaGrange. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday July 14, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville, with interment in Shadowlawn Cemetery in LaGrange. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 until 2 Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Allen was born April 23, 1916, in Heard County, daughter of the late Charlie and Susie Gore Hill. Along with her first husband, she operated a restaurant and later worked at the Plantation Cafeteria. She lived in Troup County since 1933 and was a member of East Vernon Baptist Church. Survivors include her daughter in-law, Dollie Smith of LaGrange; grandchildren, Ricky Smith of LaGrange, Jan Dodgens of Chicago, IL; several great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews, including her nieces, Rachel Riggs and Lucrette Wood, who served as her caregivers along with the staff of Opal's Personal Care Home. She was preceded in death by her husbands, J. Q. Smith and Grady Allen; and son, Quinton Smith. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.
