Jesse D. Magnan, Jr.

Mr. Jesse D. Magnan, Jr., 79, of Oliver Springs, TN, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2017, at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge, TN. Mr. Magnan was born December 3, 1937, in Hogansville, son of the late Jesse Dewey Magnan and Overton Johnson Magnan. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in aeronautical engineering from Georgia Tech in 1962, and retired as an aeronautical engineer from Martin-Marietta in Oak Ridge. A resident of the Oak Ridge area for 45 years, he attended the Assembly of God. Survivors include his wife, Julia Magnan of Oliver Springs; sons, Jeff Magnan of Oliver Springs, Mark Magnan of Oak Ridge, Paul Magnan of Clinton, TN; and a granddaughter, Samantha Magnan of Oak Ridge. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jane Magnan. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 28, at the graveside in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville, with Pastor Archie Corder officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 until 2 Saturday afternoon. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.
