Mr. Jesse M. Chipman, Jr. 81, of Hogansville, passed away Friday, August 26, 2016, at Hospice LaGrange.
Mr. Chipman was born February 22, 1935, in Hamilton, son of the late Jesse and Leone Lewis Chipman. A resident of Troup County most of his life, he served in the National Guard, was a Mason, and was Baptist by faith. He retired as a truck driver from West Point Pepperell after thirty years of service and then was employed as a security officer at Carter's in Hogansville.
Survivors include his wife, Janie Gaddy Chipman of Hogansville; daughters and sons in-law, Debra and Phillip Collins, Vickie and Larry Bible, all of LaGrange, Sandra and Bill Shaw of Hogansville; sister, Phyllis Fincher of Franklin; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sons, Kenneth Lamar Chipman and Benjamin Morgan Chipman; grandson, Eric Collins; and great-grandsons, Ben Mills and Alex Mills.
The funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, August 28, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Milton Hall and the Reverend Cleve Moore will officiate and interment will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery in LaGrange.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Saturday night.
