Jervis Ray Shelnutt

November 30, 1946 — March 5, 2025

Mr. Jervis Ray Shelnutt, 78, of Hogansville, passed away peacefully and achieved his final rest on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at the home of his daughter in Newnan.

Mr. Shelnutt was born November 30, 1946, in Heard County, son of the late Henry Ray Shelnutt and Sallie Mae Bledsoe Shelnutt. A resident of Hogansville most of his life, he retired as a lead quality inspector from Tredegar/William L. Bonnell & Company in Newnan. He enjoyed fishing, loved working on cars, and especially loved 55 Chevy's and hot-rods. In past years, he had won a number of trophies participating in drag racing and also enjoyed dirt-track racing. Jervis was a fun-loving and good father and was a very hard-working man.

Survivors include his daughter, Rhonda Henkel of Newnan; sons, Rodney Scott Shelnutt and Rusty Lee Shelnutt, both of Hogansville; and his brothers, Elvis Shelnutt and Royce Shelnutt, both of Centralhatchee. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Murphy Shelnutt; a brother, Travis Shelnutt; and a very special friend, Janice Wolfe.

The family is honoring Mr. Shelnutt's wishes that no memorial service be planned.
