Jarey E. Downing

Mr. Jarey E. Downing, 85, of Hogansville, passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at his home. Mr. Downing was born February 22, 1936, in Duck Hollow, OK, son of the late Elmer F. Downing and Phoebe Fay Morris Downing. He retired from Groov-Pin in Newnan as an electrical master craftsman, was a 32nd degree Mason, and was a former member of the Newnan Moose Lodge and past local governor. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed fishing, and loved being with his family. Survivors include his wife, Elsie Downing of Hogansville; his children, Robin Leeann Downing and Joyce Branton both of Spokane, WA, Gladys Ladd of Grantville, Sandra Spain (Audy) of Franklin, Chuck Trim (Kathy) of Navarre, FL, Wanda Davis (her late husband Peter) and Vi Ashmore (Ray) both of Hogansville, Sherril Stanley of Fowlerville, MI, Georgette Smallwood of Carrollton, and Daniel Eddy of Ohio; brothers, Elmer G. Downing and Jim Downing both of Tulsa, OK; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughters, Debbie Trim, Susanne Reich, Mary Monahan; and son, Richard Monahan. A celebration of life will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 25, at Highland Baptist Church in Hogansville, with the Reverend Terry Rainwater officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation. Claude A.
