Mrs. Clara Jane Cheatham Gottshall, 75, of Hogansville, passed away Thursday, June 17, 2021, at Hospice LaGrange.
Mrs. Gotthsall was born November 6, 1945, in Hogansville, daughter of the late Ray Edward Cheatham and Ruby Holcombe Cheatham. Following her retirement from AT&T after more than 30 years of service, she returned to Hogansville and served as director of the Hogansville Public Library and also as a church administrator. She volunteered for the Hogansville Regional Arts Association and for the Troup County Baptist Association, where she served as director of Faith Bible Institute. A member of First Baptist Church on the Square in LaGrange, Mrs. Gottshall maintained a card ministry, was a talented soloist, and was an avid reader.
Survivors include her sister, Ann Howard of Roanoke, VA; nieces and nephews, Edward Howard, Ann-Marie White, Andrea Taylor, Don Allen, Mark Allen, Holly Banks; a number of great-nieces and great-nephews; and a friend that she considered as her God-son, Marshall Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Gottshall, and her sisters, Raye Lynn Allen and Caroline Banks.
A memorial service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, June 19, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville, with the Reverend Terry Rainwater, the Reverend Aaron McCollough, and the Reverend Cade Farris officiating. Interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery.
