Mr. Jamie E. Bartlett, 75, of LaGrange, passed away Sunday, January 3, 2016, at Hospice LaGrange.
Born July 12, 1940 in Hogansville, Mr. Bartlett was the son of the late J. W. and Ora Lee Caldwell Bartlett. He was raised in Hogansville, was a 1958 graduate of Hogansville High School and furthered his education at Gordon College in Barnesville. He was a veteran of service in the U.S. Air Force, served in the National Guard, and was a volunteer fireman for Troup County for 10 years. He retired from Trackmobile as a Regional Service Manager, where he traveled extensively throughout the world for more than 20 years.
Mr. Bartlett was an avid fisherman and had three catfish lakes, where he taught his children and grandchildren to fish. He enjoyed entertaining family, friends, and colleagues and sharing his famous fried catfish suppers.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 53 years, Ann Bartlett of LaGrange; sons and daughters in-law, Eddie and Kim Bartlett, Chris and Diane Bartlett, Jay and Gina Bartlett, all of LaGrange; daughter and son in-law, Sammie and Rusty Burleson of Gainesville; grandchildren, Brad, Nikki, Will, Wesley, Tori, Eli, Jacob and Lindsey; great-granddaughter, Olivia Kate; brother, Sherrell Bartlett and his wife, Charlene of Griffin; sisters in-law, Wanda Bartlett of Marshallville, Donna Bartlett of LaGrange; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jake Bartlett, Roger Bartlett, and Barry Bartlett; his sister, Barbara Massengale; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 6, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Max McCord will officiate and interment will be in Meadoway Gardens Cemetery, with military honors.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Wednesday.
