James Franklin Wharton, Sr.

MR. JAMES WHARTON, SR. Mr. James Franklin Wharton, Sr., 77, of LaGrange, died Friday, March 23, 2012, at Hospice LaGrange. Mr. Wharton was born April 25, 1934, in Mansfield, Ohio, son of the late Arthur Franklin Wharton and the late Vada Rose Boyle Wharton. A veteran of service in the U. S. Marine Corps, he had lived in LaGrange for the past nine years, moving from Florida. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church in LaGrange and was a retired construction worker. Survivors include his wife, Alice Geter Wharton of LaGrange; daughters, Beth Ann Roman of Dade City, Belinda Rachel Coates of St. Petersburg, FL, Hazel Hampton of LaGrange; sons, James Franklin Wharton, Jr. of LaGrange, David Leroy Wharton of Dade City, FL, Keith Allen Wharton of Franklin; adopted daughter, Rose Gina Wheeler of Hammond, IN; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at their home and will hold a memorial service at a later time. Flowers are welcomed, or memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.
