James R. (Jr) Parrish

Mr. James R. (JR) Parrish, 81, of LaGrange, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2020, at his home. Mr. Parrish was born March 14, 1939, in Fulton County, son of the late James Bartow Parrott and Willie Mae William Parrott. A veteran of service in the U.S. Navy where he served as a pilot, he attended college on a baseball scholarship, was a member of the American Legion and the Bonded Brothers Blue Grass Association. He retired from Allied Systems, was a member of the Teamsters Union, and enjoyed blue-grass music, NASCAR racing, and baseball. Survivors include his wife, Rhonda Parrish of LaGrange; daughter, Debbie Robinson of East Lansing, MI, Penni Godwin of Murfreesboro, TN; sons, Jimmy Parrott of Rome, Donald Parrott of Blythewood, SC, Keith Parrish of Rockmart; sisters, Mary Lawrence of Cumming, Jane Neilson of Columbia, SC, Martha Jones of Hogansville; brother, Clarence Parrott of St. Simons Island; fourteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Carolyn Jackson. A memorial service will be planned at a later time. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.
