Mr. James Hilton Odom, 75, of Hogansville, passed away, Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at his home.
Mr. Odom was born May 30, 1942, in LaGrange, son of the late William Jesse Odom and Winnie Wood Odom. A graduate of Troup High School, he was a veteran of service in the U.S. Army, and was Baptist by faith. He had a 38 year career in law enforcement, serving 10 years in the LaGrange Police Department, then serving in the Hogansville Police Department as Lieutenant, Assistant Chief, and retiring as Chief in 2002. Mr. Odom was a member of Union Masonic Lodge #28, the LaGrange Shrine Club, the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police, and the Peace Officer Association of Georgia.
Survivors include his wife, Robyn Odom of Hogansville; sons and daughters in-law, James (Bubba) and Anna Odom and their daughter, Sarah of LaGrange, Matt Odom of Hogansville, Scott and Sandy Odom and their son, Nathan of Hogansville; and his mother in-law, Gloria Prather, also of Hogansville.
A memorial service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, July 1, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville. The Reverend Dale Prather and the Reverend Terry Rainwater will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery. Members of the Hogansville Police Department serve as honor guard.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Saturday.
