Mr. James W. McCollum, 83, of Moreland, passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at his home.
Mr. McCollum was born September 9, 1934, in Coweta County, son of the late Woodrow and Sadie Hand McCollum. A veteran of service in the U.S. Army, he was a lifelong resident of Coweta County and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in the Rocky Mount Community of Meriwether County. Mac, as he was known by his friends, retired as a forester from Georgia Kraft and also operated several businesses, including Mac's Feed and Tack, a farm and horse supply store where he enjoyed visiting with his Moreland neighbors. He was an avid outdoorsman, was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and will be missed.
Survivors include his wife, Norma Jean McCollum; daughters and sons in-law, Sherry and Jerry Gray, Teresa and Glen Barber; sons and daughter in-law, James Russell McCollum, Joseph Troy and Kimberly McCollum, all of Moreland; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 2, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville, with the Reverend Michael Farr officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday.
