James Ralph Matthews

JAMES R. MATTHEWS Mr. James Ralph (Jim) Matthews, 83, of the Corinth Community of Heard County, passed away, Monday, January 19, 2015, at Twin Fountains Home in LaGrange. Mr. Matthews was born March 23, 1931, in Hogansville, son of the late William Coleman Matthews and Louise Huff Matthews. A veteran of service in the U. S. Air Force, he retired as an aircraft mechanic from Lockheed Corporation in Marietta after twenty years of service and returned to make his home in Hogansville in 1991. He enjoyed taking care of his home and had attended St. James United Methodist Church. Survivors include his daughters, Teresa Coggins of Corinth, Sandra Close and Mary Sullivan, both of Senora, KY,Tina Payne of New Albany, IN, and Lisa Smith of New Salisbury, IN; sister, Doris Johnson of Morrow; eleven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, James Coleman Matthews. A family memorial service will be held at the graveside in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville. Claude A.
