MR. JAMES MARTIN
Mr. James Albert Martin, Sr., 89 , of Newnan, died Saturday, June 20, 2009, at his home.
The funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 23, at the graveside in Luthersville Cemetery, with Elder Chris Hill officiating.
Mr. Martin was born June 5, 1920, in Meriwether County, son of the late Clinton Albert and Exa Sibley Martin. He was a graduate of Luthersville High School and served as a B-24 tail gunner in the Army Air Corps in World War Two, serving in North Africa, Sicily, Italy, and Germany. A resident of Newnan for 23 years, he was a former resident of LaGrange, retired from Frito-Lay, Inc. after 38 years of service, and was a member and deacon of Providence Primitive Baptist Church in Luthersville.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Elizabeth Pearson Martin of Newnan; daughter, Delores Martin Arrington of Newnan; son, James Albert Martin, Jr. and his wife Annell, of Hogansville; son in-law, Thom Moncus of Newnan; brother and sister in-law, Kenneth and Susan Martin and sister in-law, Dorothy Martin, all of Luthersville; grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann Arrington, Robert Lee Arrington, Tal Moncus, III, Charlotte Smith, Clint Martin, and Orry Martin; and eleven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Amy Martin Moncus.
Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.
