MR. JAMES I. LOFTON, JR.
Mr. James I. Lofton, Jr., 90, of Hampton, died Saturday, May 3, 2008, at his home.
The memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 8, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Winston Skinner will officiate and interment will be in Alvaton Baptist Church Cemetery, with military honors.
Mr. Lofton was born November 8, 1917, in Meriwether county, son of the late James Iverson Lofton and the late Cora Avaline Heath Lofton. He retired as a Chief Petty Officer from the U.S. Navy, was a Purple Heart recipient, and was a veteran of World War Two and the Korean Conflict. He had lived in Hampton since 1964 and also retired as an electronics technician from the Federal Aviation Administration.
Survivors include his sisters, Grace Swafford of Hampton, Sylvia Thompson of Luthersville, and Sara Holifield of Inverness, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church, %L. M. Creech, 362 Todd Rd., Senoia, GA 30276.
The Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.
