James N. (Jim) Karvelas

MR. JIM KARVELAS Mr. Jim Karvelas, 70, of Hogansville, died Friday, December 6, 2013, at his home. The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Monday, December 9, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Chris Oliver will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from from 4 until 7 Sunday evening. Mr. Karvelas was born March 17, 1943, in Atlanta, son of the late Nicholas Manuel Karvelas and Omie Brewer Karvelas. He attended the University of Georgia, was employed by Federal Express for 28 years, retiring as operations manager for the LaGrange station, and had lived in Hogansville since 1987. Following his retirement, he owned and operated Pizza Stop Restaurant in Hogansville, and also obtained his real estate license. Survivors include his wife, Linda Karvelas of Hogansville; daughter, Kristal Karvelas of Newnan; sons and daughters in-law, Manny and April Karvelas of Charlotte, NC, Jimmy and Callie Karvelas, Sammy and Brandy Karvelas all of Hogansville, Joey and Emily Karvelas of Newnan, and Charlie Karvelas of Hogansville; and fourteen grandchildren. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements. Visitation: from 4 until 7 Sunday evening, December 8th, at Claude A.
