James W. Hurtt

On Wednesday, October 12, 2022, James William Hurtt, loving husband of Elaine King Hurtt and father of James and Hiram Hurtt, passed away at the age of 75.

James was born on July 18, 1947 in Verbena, AL, to Lois Jackson Hurtt and James MacAfee Hurtt. He attended school at Hogansville High School, worked at Mike Fitzpatrick Ford in Newnan, and was a lifetime resident of the Hogansville area. On June 25th, 2007, he married Elizabeth Elaine King, and they have lived in Heard County and have enjoyed traveling together. James was an avid golfer in his younger years, and has loved spending time with his grandchildren and family.

Preceded in death by his father, James MacAfee Hurtt, and his mother, Lois Jackson Hurtt, he is survived by his wife Elaine, his two sons, James Matthew Hurtt and his wife Inga, and Hiram Fred Hurtt and his wife Sarah; and grandsons, James Alexander Hurtt and Wesley William Hurtt.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 17, at Highland Baptist Church in Hogansville. The Reverend Terry Rainwater will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Sunday.
