James R. Farmer

Mr. James R. Farmer, 82, of Hogansville, passed away Friday, September 13, 2019, at Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center. Mr. Farmer was born October 2, 1936, in LaGrange, son of the late Jim and Beatrice Grizzle Farmer Powell. A veteran of service in the U.S. Navy, he retired as a service man from Newnan Utilities and was a member of Springhill Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Bowen Farmer of Hogansville; son and daughter in-law, Jimmy and Elaine Farmer; sister, Lucille Jean of Gray; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Lynne Wilson. The funeral service will be conducted at 4:30 p.m., Sunday, September 15, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Jody Mitchell will officiate and interment will be in Hillview East Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. Sunday. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
