MR. JAMES E. THOMPSON
Mr. James Edward Thompson, 58, of Hogansville, passed away, Sunday, August 30, 2015, at Hospice LaGrange, surrounded by his precious family.
Known as "Bubba" to his grandchildren and as "Duck" to his City Of LaGrange co-workers, James was born January 22, 1957 in Newnan. He was employed for 18 years at the Kex Division of Milliken and Co. and had worked for over 14 years for the City of LaGrange as maintenance supervisor for the Long Cane Creek WCPC. He will be greatly missed by those who worked for him, including Dave, Tommy, James and Bruce.
Bubba spent his life in service to his children, nieces, nephews and the children of the Mill Village of Hogansville, who have visited and paid tribute to him. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather and brother, and was a caring friend to all who knew him. He loved vacationing on St. George Island, FL with his family every year, where he enjoyed fishing in the Apalachicola Bay and watching the sun set over the water. His legacy will live on in his children's children.
Survivors include his loving wife of 35 years, Debi Thompson; son, Luke Thompson; daughter, Christina and Jonathan Moncus; grandchildren, Evan Wade Thompson, Lane Edward Thompson, Gavin Lee Moncus, Charley Ann Moncus, Claudia Cheyanne Massey, Logan Drake Massey, all of Hogansville; sisters, Martha and Bruce Howard, Betty Thompson, all of Newnan; mother in-law, Sara Phillips of Hogansville; brother in-law, Sid and Regina Phillips of LaGrange; four nieces and six nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Frances Conner Thompson; brother, Roy J. Thompson, Jr.; nephew, John Michael Phillips; and father in-law, Sidney (Doc) Phillips.
The funeral service will be conducted at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 1, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville, with the Reverend Doug Bingham officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Monday night.
