MR. JAMES DRAKE SR.

Mr. James Drake, Sr., 78 of Hogansville, passed away Monday, April 8, 2024, at his home.

Born January 11, 1946 in Alabama, Mr. Drake was the son of the late William Hugh Drake and Aribelle Horton Drake. He was a lifelong resident of Hogansville and spent his life in public service. He was a Vietnam Veteran with the Marines, was a Hogansville Police Officer for 20 years, and was a Meriwether County Sherrif's Deputy for 20 years. Mr. Drake enjoyed working with his hands, had a strong personality, and loved "overseeing" his family.

Survivors include his daughter, Stacy Miles (Jason) of Hogansville, Shana Drake of LaGrange, and Tanya (David) Bennett of Wilmington, NC; son, James D. Drake, Jr. (Brandi) of Phenix City, AL; grandchildren, Caleb Drake (Paige), Claudia Robinson (C J), Anna Andrews (Bruce), Logan Drake, Emily Drake, Jacob Miles, Taylor (Jordan) Thayer, Jackson (Alexis) Bennett, and Blake Powell; great-grandchildren, Kade Drake, Oakley Robinson, Morgan Thayer, and Andy Anderson; brothers, David Drake of Winston-Salem, NC and Danny Drake of Hogansville; and his faithful dog, Maxx. In addition to his parents, Mr. Drake was preceded in death by his wife, Beth Drake, and his daughter, Jimmie Beth Drake.

A memorial visitation will be Thursday, April 18, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home.
