James R. (Jimmy) Drake

MR. JAMES R. DRAKE Mr. James R. (Jimmy) Drake, Sr., 78, of Hogansville, died Sunday, January 13, 2013, at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 19, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home. The Reverend Randall Hodge will officiated and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday morning from 10 until 11. Born October 19, 1934 in Yellow Springs, Ohio, Mr. Drake was the son of the late Robert and Juanita Mikesell Drake. He retired as a Senior Master Chief from the U. S. Navy after 27 years of service and was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was a former Director of Public Works for the City of Hogansville and had been a resident for the past 30 years. Survivors include his sons and daughters in-law, James, Jr. and Gina of Hogansville, Richard and Diana of Franklin, and Randall and Donna of Plant City, Fl.; brother, Robert Drake of De Funiak Springs, FL; sisters, Mary Ann Meredith of Panama City, FL, Lois King of Vero Beach, FL, Dolly Drake of Texas, and Susie Stansell, of Silva, NC; grandchildren, Karen, Patrick, Christy, Chloe, and Chase; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Lee Drake; brothers, Donald Drake and William Drake; and sisters, Betty McGill, Patty Ratley, and Doris Piatts. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Visitation: from 10 until 11 Saturday morning, January 19th, at Claude A.
