Mr. James E. "Jim" Dorminey, 80 of Newnan, passed away Monday, August 21, 2023, at Wellstar Douglas Hospital.
Born February 7, 1943, Mr. Dorminey was the son of the late Furman and Betty Merritt Dorminey. He served in and retired from the Georgia National Guard and retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation. A resident of Coweta County since 1971, he was a member of Harrisonville Baptist Church, loved hunting, fishing, and getting out and riding around.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Dorminey of Newnan; sons and daughter in-law, Chad and Cheryl Dorminey of Hogansville and Clint Dorminey of Grantville; step-sons and daughters in-law, Robert and Tabitha Horn of LaGrange and William and Paige Horn of Charleston, SC; sisters and brother in-law, Latrelle and Earl Hann of Cartersville and Lynette Latham of Douglas; 3 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and 4 step-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Dorminey was preceded in death by his brothers, Julian Dorminey and Warren Dorminey.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 24, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville with the Reverend Randy Gilbert officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday.
A second funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 26, in the Chapel of Ricketson Funeral Home in Douglas, GA, with interment in Saint Illa Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Douglas.
