James C. "Buster" Courtney, 69, of Hogansville, passed away Thursday, October 7, 2021, at Wellstar Windy Hill Hospital in Marietta.
Mr. Courtney was born May 16, 1952, in Newnan, son of the late James Benjamin Courtney and Novelene Denney Courtney. A 1970 graduate of Hogansville High School, he retired as a machinist from Yokogowa Corporation in Newnan. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, was an avid sports fan, and especially enjoyed watching NASCAR, the Atlanta Braves, the Georgia Bulldogs, the Callaway High Cavaliers, and the Troup High Tigers.
Survivors include his children, Stephanie Gaddy of West Point, Tiffany Ray of Manchester, Hank Burke and Stacie Burke both of LaGrange, Bryan Norton of Carrollton, Jessica South of Woodbury, and Lacey Boynton of Manchester; his sister, Debbie Staley of Hogansville; and eight grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jeremy Norton.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 10, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Randall Hodge will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Sunday.
The family suggests that those attending the funeral wear red and black.
