Mr. James H. Cato, Jr., 81, of Greenville, passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2019, at Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange.
Mr. Cato was born August 25, 1938, in Greenville, son of the late James H. (Pete) Cato and Beth Dollar Cato. A veteran of service in the U.S. Navy, he was a lifelong resident of Meriwether County, retired from United Business Forms in 2001, and attended New Friendship Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with all of his family, but his care and love for his wife, daughter, and granddaughters was the central focus of his life.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Cato of Greenville; daughter and son in-law, Stacy and Doyle Folds of Bowdon; granddaughters, Savannah York and her husband Jeremy of Tallapoosa and Gracie Folds of Bowdon; sister, Patricia Hurst of Greenville; sisters in-law, Susan Cato of Greenville, Patsy and Sammy Bridges of Woodbury, Nancy James of Manchester; brothers in-law, Russell Stitcher of Moreland, Larry and Jackie Norris of Panama City, FL; and several nieces and nephews, including Katie Stitcher of Moreland. Mr. Cato was preceded in death by his sister, Karen Stitcher, and brothers, Larry Cato, Gene Cato, and Rob Cato.
The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, December 28, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Tim Hosmer will officiate and interment will be in the Greenville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 until 3 Saturday afternoon.
