James Lindsey Barber

Mr. Lindsey Barber, 94, of Luthersville, passed away Friday, May 12, 2017, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital. Mr. Barber was born May 1, 1923, son of the late John Kiser Barber and Nannie Roberta Hayes Barber. A lifelong resident of Meriwether County, he was a U. S. Marine Corps veteran of World War Two, was a retired plumbing, electrical, heating and air-conditioning contractor, and was a deacon of First White Oak Grove Baptist Church. He also enjoyed farming, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his daughter, Teresa and Steve Rich of Franklin; son, Jerry and Margaret Barber of Fairburn; sister, Mildred Crews of Luthersville; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Barber; daughter, Ann Lord; grandson, Jeff Barber; great-great-grandson, Rich Lawrence. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 16, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Terry Rainwater will officiate and interment will be in Luthersville Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Monday night. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
