Jack Edward Parker, 78 of Hogansville, passed away at his home on July 13, 2025.
Mr. Parker, son of the late Perry Parker, Sr. and Dorothy Rose Norris, was born September 8, 1946 in Troup County, Georgia. He graduated from Hogansville High School in 1965, after which he joined the Army Reserve, and served until 1971 before being honorably discharged. He served 2 years of active duty, and in 1968, his unit was assigned to guard duty at the inauguration of President Richard Nixon. Upon returning home from the Army, he owned and operated Parkerlands Dairy in Meriwether County until 1995. He was employed with Meriwether County as a tag and tax clerk from 1999 until his retirement in 2019. He was a former member of Hogansville Presbyterian Church, and current member of Allen-Lee Memorial United Methodist Church in Lone Oak, Georgia.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Peggy Daniel Parker of Hogansville; daughters, Susan Banks (Kevin) of Hogansville and Karen Edmonds (Jack) of Valdosta; five grandchildren, Mary Parker Banks, Claire Lynn Banks, Silas William Banks, Miles Daniel Edmonds, and Lucy Rene Edmonds; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Parker; brother-in-law, Tim Daniel; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Parker was preceded in death by his two brothers, James Perry Parker, Jr. and Charles Richard Parker.
The family will receive friends at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville Saturday, July 19, from 5 until 6:30. A graveside memorial service will follow at 7:00 p.m. at Allen-Lee Memorial United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Burt Parker and Reverend Winston Skinner officiating.
