J. C. Spradlin

Mr. J. C. Spradlin, 89, of Rome, passed away Sunday, October 8, 2023, at his home.

Mr. Spradlin was born November 18, 1933, in Greenville, son of the late George Howell Spradlin and Opal Chappell Spradlin Bonner. He was a veteran of service in the Korean War and the Vietnam War, retired as a Sergeant First Class from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service, and was a member of the American Legion. Following his military retirement, he served a number of years managing cafeterias, and enjoyed traveling and RV camping.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Spradlin of Rome; children, John Beckham (Sherry) of Winston, Gary Treadwell (Joyce) of Carrollton, John Treadwell (Betty) of Rome, Keith Treadwell of Carrollton; grandchildren, Amy Davis, Misty Woodall (Kevin), John Beckham, Jr. (Jessica), Tabetha Nash (Jonathan), T. J. Treadwell (Ellen), Brian Treadwell, Glynn Treadwell, Steve Treadwell, Chase Anderson; sixteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Janet Barber and Janice Montgomery (Tyrone); brother, Sidney Spradlin (Nancy); sister in-law, Nadine Spradlin, all of Hogansville; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Sheila Spradlin Holcomb; his infant children, J. C. Junior, Joy, Joyce, Dannie Joe and Gloria Spradlin; brother, Howell Spradlin; and sister, Betty Spradlin Smith.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 13, at the graveside in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville, with military honors. Tyrone Montgomery will officiate.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Friday.
